Gary Puckett and the Union Gap "Young Girl"

My family and I had a great time cracking up at the lyrics of Gary Puckett and the Union Gap's "Young Girl" yesterday afternoon. Although I must have heard the song a hundred times, the lyrics never really sank in for me. Admittedly, all the years of listening, I was singing "Go on Girl..." and not "Young Girl..."

Here is a little taste of the tune that reached the #2 spot of the Billboard charts in 1968 and the tune that forced my daughter to declare "This singer is a Pedo!"

Young girl, get out of my mind
My love for you is way out of line
Better run girl,
You're much too young girl.

With all the charms of a woman

You've kept the secret of your youth
You led me to believe
You're old enough
To give me love
And now it hurts to know the truth, Oh,

Young girl, get out of my mind

My love for you is way out of line
Better run girl,
You're much too young girl.

(This verse is left out of the performance in the video below)
Beneath your perfume and make-up
You're just a baby in disguise
And though you know
That it is wrong to be
Alone with me
That come on look is in your eyes, Oh...
