I don't know when the official version of Kanye West's "Monster" is going to be released so I guess I'll have to accept this unofficial version by The Muppets for now...

Perhaps I'm a bit late the the Rye Rye party, but better late than never!

M.I.A. definitely wasn't late - Rye Rye was the first artist signed to her label. I love this schoolyard video and its cool 1980's vibe -  and you know I just love any music video that features double dutch!

Thanks to Ballade de Johnny-Jane for turning me on to dan le sac vs. Scroobius Pip and their wonderful rant from the heavens: "Letter From God To Man."  God is so old fashioned - he actually wrote a letter and sent it via snail mail! Perhaps God could use a lesson from Google's Teach Parents Tech site.

God is really torn with what he has created in this song, and he sums up his feelings with some fairly fierce rapping with a little musical sampling help from Radiohead's "Planet Telex" - how apropos!

Another wild track from that Free Amazon sampler, "Scandinavian Gold."

This time it's Wildbirds and Peacedrums' "There is No Light." Wildbirds and Peacedrums hail from Sweden and are made up of husband and wife duo Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin. Great video for "The Air We Breathe" from Danish band, Figurines.  The song is from their 2007 album "When the Deer Wore Blue."

Die Antwoord "Tokoloshe"

Die Antwoord are more than just the greatest Zef Rappers in the world - they bring their shit to the ultimate next level and that level just happens to be the paranormal.

It's not enough that Ninja and Yo-Landi brighten our lives with some amazing rap, they now also provide important public service announcements. Watch as Die Antwoord go in search for the South African demon, The Tokoloshe. There is definitely fear in the streets, but our heros get to the root of the evil and refuse to leave us hanging with the problem - watch as they visit a witch doctor to find a solution!

Kathleen Hanna "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Thanks to Pitchfork for turning me on to this great video of former Bikini Kill singer, Kathleen Hanna, telling her story of an evening that got a bit out of hand, the planting of the seeds to a song that changed contemporary rock and roll, and the personal effect, or rather domino effect, it continued to make on her life.

The story is a touching, bittersweet and funny tribute to friendship, loss of innocence and the recklessness of youth. Kathleen punctuates the story with a rousing version of her Riot Grrrl anthem "Rebel Girl."

Jesus Volt "Voodoo In A Motel Room"

Rockin' out with my fave down and dirty French blues band - Jesus Volt! This song is from their album "In Stereo" which has to be their most consumer friendly titled album when you see it sitting next to "Electro Button Funky Coxx" and "Halleluyah Motherfuckers" - Strangely, all albums in my mom's record collection!!!

All of Jesus Volt's albums rock out with a great mix of bad ass, grungy blues and funk. Jesus Volt tours pretty consistently throughout Europe, but have yet to cross the waters to the United States - come on guys - get those passports in order and take a tour of the land littered with voodoo infested motel rooms!

Plus, Bonne anniversaire a Magic Doudous! Kick out the Jams!
